When Do The Best Movies Come Out! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered which you list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving needs a different twist. Neither of these is specific to Thanksgiving, nevertheless they relate to some themes in the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving and for any day from the year.

Big oil company propaganda with a heart! Just the free movie we want for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one with the most lyrical American films ever made. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation inside United States National Film Registry from the Library of Congress being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of the Cajun boy and the family, living about the bayous in ways of life that individuals can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land for the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything much like it was, clean and unspoiled with the exception that the family features a little more money. (Yes, it was funded with the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends the majority of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating over the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, regarding his pet raccoon. He never wears an existence preserver or shoes... doesn't even have a cell phone to contact case he gets in danger. There is not much story, only a celebration (such stunning grayscale photography that you can well wonder what are the big deal is about color) of your way of life that is no longer along with us.
All with the actors were amateurs, as well as most, this became their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who unquestionably boy, was living in a FEMA trailer along with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their residence. (source). A grayscale silent film that ends using a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, exactly what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc within this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was available. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died convinced that the last copy had been destroyed. In a little bit of weirdness that sounds more like a movie compared to truth, an almost complete print is discovered in 1981 in the janitor's closet of an Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful that people can watch this magnificent film, on many lists in the greatest films in recent history, at no cost online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
